Today, The Custody Minefield, the internet’s leading provider of family law related information, has officially released a research-based report highlighting the significant flaws in family law related child relocation cases.

The report, fully supported by research, concludes and evidences that rather than protecting child welfare, the UK family courts routinely ignore what is in a child’s best interests due to a rigid adherence to outdated case law which ignores social and psychological research.

The report goes on to further evidence that the majority of court decisions in such cases are likely to cause children harm.

The foreword, written by Sir Bob Geldof, concludes: “This report is important, timely and vital. To accept its findings, which could have and should have been conducted at any time in the past 30 years, is to accept the awful conclusion that rather than Solomon like resolving our tragically human disputes with understanding, compassion and logical pragmatism, the courts have consistently acted against society’s interest through the application of prejudice, gender bias and awful impartial cruelty. This report proves it. May God forgive them. I won’t!”

Three parents’ personal experiences are also to be released, highlighting the human misery caused when the courts’ ‘leave to remove’ is sought and granted.

The report comes shortly after the tabling of Early Day Motion 2059 in Parliament, calling for legislative changes to better safeguard child welfare in relocation cases.

A copy of the ‘Relocation: Child Welfare, Needs and Rights’ Report is included with this press release in PDF format.
