The UK's leading Shared Parenting charity
Father’s Day events give children and parents another chance to be together
Each year around 200,000 parents divorce or separate, meaning that three million (one in four) British children have experienced their parents being apart. Despite consistent evidence pointing to the benefits of both parents being involved in a child’s life, thousands of British children are denied a quality, loving relationship with one of their parents. Office of National Statistics figures suggest that up to a quarter of children never have any contact at all with one of their parents, let alone on Father’s Day.
Each year Families Need Fathers helps thousands of parents, as well as a growing number of grandparents, to maintain and improve relationships with their children, as well as lobbying Parliament and the family judiciary to recognise the importance of shared parenting. For more on the work of Families Need Fathers over the past 12 months, please see our Press Release archive.
On Father’s Day (Sunday 15th June) many FNF branch meetings will be hosting special events, where non-resident parents, along with extended family and partners, and their children can enjoy one of the year’s most important days together.
